As protests and calls for the end of police brutality across the country gains momentum, the Nigerian Youths have taken things a step further by forming their own political party, tagged ‘Youths Democratic Party’.
Father of one of the victims of SARS brutality, says “If this move was meant to appease the youths and stop them from protesting, it failed woefully, as it even aggravated the frequency of protests across the nation, as Enugu and Rivers State became new additions to the growing list of states that protests are being held.”
This morning, the youths seem to have taken things a step further by going ahead to launch their brand new political party called the YDP. The Youth Democratic Party is said to comprise of only Youths who have had enough of the brutality experienced from all sectors of the police.
The launch of this new political party has sparked reactions from several angles, with Twitter users reacting happily to it. There were even funny remarks from some individuals stating that the youths are going to rise up and vote for the party, like it’s a BBNaija show. There were also calls from some angles for a total fund raising from all Youths, to raise money for the registration and running of the political party, ahead of the 2023 General elections.
